The First Annual DFW Trucks for Tots | DFW Food Trucks Christmas Benefit in Deep Ellum

On December 8th, 25 DFW Food Trucks will gather together in Deep Ellum for the first ever DFW Trucks for Tots Benefit Event. This massive toy drive for Dallas Fort Worth’s Toys for Tots will take place at the corner of Gaston Avenue and Elm Street in Deep Ellum between 11:00am and 7:00pm. Toy donations will be received on site by 20 U.S. Marines as live music plays in the background and kids enjoy bounce houses. Also more than 50 vendors will be at Trucks for Tots offering holiday shopping and crafts!tosy4tots

Trucks for Tots donators and attendees will enjoy live performances by the Lincoln High School Tiger Marching Band, whose students will actively be collecting new unwrapped toys for kids in need along with W.E. Greiner Exploratory Arts Academy.

During the months of October, November and December the US Marine Corps Toys for Tots Program carries out their mission to collect new toys and distribute them as Christmas gifts to children who are less fortunate throughout the community. You can help be a part of doing something grand for a child during the holidays!

Women of Faith Christmas Event – November 30

If you missed the Women of Faith Conference in September at the AAC, now is your chance to go to their first ever Women of Faith Christmas Event being held at Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano. The program is scheduled for Friday night, 7:00pm to 9:30pm at WOF veteran, Sheila Walsh’s own home church. The family friendly event will feature pastor/author Francis Chan, Bible teachers Lisa Harper and Sheila Walsh, and award-winning musical artists like Kari Job and Point of Grace.

We got a chance to sit down with Sheila Walsh at the “Celebrate What Matters” conference. Here she shares a little about the WOF Christmas and how excited Women of Faith are for the inaugural event!

In addition to traditional holiday music enjoy interactive story-telling of the story of Immanuel – God With Us – and a full evening of hope and joy.

Finally the BIG MYSTERY will be revealed as to what all those construction workers are doing in the space above the Woodall Rogers tunnel! As you may or may not have noticed that entire area between Pearl St. and St. Paul has been filled in and closed off, now connecting the Dallas Arts District to Uptown. It is the future site of Klyde Warren Park! The Grand Opening weekend for Klyde Warren Park is October 27 & 28. The hours for this 2-day soiree are: Saturday: 10am-4pm and Sunday 10am-10pm!

District After Dark – October 19

This Friday when the sun sets and the cool night air sweeps over the city, a plethora of light installations, public art and illuminating performances will brighten up the Dallas Arts District. This night of Free public art features 10 different artists and a glimpse into Aurora 2013, coming October next year!

District After Dark will commence at 6:00pm on Friday evening, October 19th. This is just one of the great attractions of the District’s Art in October series. Roam Dallas museums and venues like the Wyly Theatre, Nasher Sculpture Center, Crow Collection and DMA until the wee hours of the night. Here’s everything you can look forward to at this After Dark festival:

Head down to the Dallas Arts District Friday night (6pm til about midnight) for the FREE District After Dark event. Come dressed up in a glow-in-the-dark costume to the Crow Collection of Asian Art between 7:30 and 9:30pm and have your photo taken and uploaded to the Dallas Arts District Pinterest page for their Pinterest Costume Contest. The costume contest will continue at the Kylde Warren Park Grand Opening celebration also on October 28th, so you have two opportunities for getting your Pinterest costume pic taken! Winners of the costume competition receive tickets or gift certificates to Arts District venues, restaurants and performances as well as free museum passes.

This Friday and Saturday, October 19 & 20, Aloft Downtown Dallas will host the Live at Aloft Hotels festival! Dallas’ very own Meiko, The Dunwells, Johnny Stimson, HITS and Martin Harley will perform at this Free event. The first annual Live Aloft Hotels Festival is fit for the swank, funkadelic audiences of the Dallas area who can truly appreciate emerging talent in a luxurious, upbeat setting.

Up and coming artists get to showcase their talent from the intimate stage of the Aloft Dallas’ w xyz bar. This new pop-culture event to take place right downtown will bridge the gap between music lovers and on-the-verge artists. 3rd Annual Go Oak Cliff Blues Bandits & BBQ

If you’ve already got the blues from the departure of summertime in North Texas, find your fall pick-me-up in North Oak Cliff Saturday, October 27th. There will be BBQ, live music, a beer garden featuring Four Corners Brewery’s finest, a bounce house for the kids and food trucks all at the 3rd Annual Go Oak Cliff Blues Bandits & BBQ event. It will take place at 1700 Seeds, the sunflower art installation that was just created this summer. Look for market shopping, lawn games and energizing performances. You’ll get all the fun that comes with summer but within cooler temperatures in late October.

Blues, Bandits & BBQ 2012 is hosting a BBQ competition in which teams compete in the following five categories: chicken, ribs, pulled pork, brisket and sausage. All those who enjoy grilling and think they’re pretty darn good at it are welcomed to enter the competition.

Love the taste of BBQ?? Well here’s where you come in! Attend this competition of Oak Cliff Blues Bandits & BBQ, sample what you wish and then vote on the 2012 BBQ People’s Choice Award. Remember you only need a ticket if you plan on partaking of the BBQ competition food. Other than that this is a FREE event!
