See who the Mavs will pick up and who all the other teams will pick up LIVE at House of Blues Dallas. You’ll get to enjoy great food and drinks with other NBA/Mavs fans as we get a look into our future pick for the 2013-14 NBA season. Feel free to sport your Mavs gear or just come however. The Mavs Dancers, ManiAACs and voice of the Mavs, Chuck Cooperstein, will all be there for the party!

4th of July Dallas Events 2013 | Most Popular Fireworks Shows in DFW

Once you POP the fun won’t stop! Fireworks and Patriotic parades are BIG in DFW during 4th of July time. This year we have notable 4th of July events and activities taking place across the metropolitan area. You’ll find some of the biggest DFW fireworks shows listed below along with some cool festivals that are entertaining for the entire family. Fair Park Fourth, KaBoom Town, Lone Stars & Stripes at Lone Star Park are just a few of the traditional spots with grandoise firework shows.

While we couldn’t cover every single one, we handpicked a few DFW Independence Day events in Dallas, Forth Worth and in between. Let’s get this Birthday Party started and celebrate another year of Freedom right! (You’ll be happy to know that every event mentioned below is for 2013.)

Kaboom Town! Addison
Date: Wednesday, July 3rd
Time: 5:00pm to Midnight

Fireworks Showtime: After Dusk

Addison’s Kaboom Town! has been nationally recognized for its fireworks display. Enjoy 30 minutes of choreographed fireworks to patriotic music along with live entertainment taking place throughout the evening on the Dos Equis Stage. There is also an Air Show set to amaze onlookers from the large Addison park below. After the #3 fireworks show in America is done, families can stick around for the after party featuring a performance by Emerald City. Expect great food, fun and an energetic atmosphere!

Fair Park Fourth is the City of Dallas’ official Independence Day celebration with spectacular fireworks at the Cotton Bowl sponsored by Gold Metal Recyclers, entertainment including a Dallas Wind Symphony patriotic concert sponsored by Big City Crushed Concrete, kids activities and more. Plus, don’t forget that the Top 3 finalists of the All American Drum-Off will be performing live! FREE admission to the general public, reduced admission to museums and concessions are just a few other benefits of FPF.

Lone Star Park – Lone Stars & Stripes Celebration

The 17th Annual Lone Stars & Stripes Fireworks Celebration, hosted by Lone Star Park in conjunction with the City of Grand Prairie, not only features two nights of spectacular prizes, music and fireworks but also bounce houses, a petting zoo and pony rides for the kids! Enjoy an afternoon of events both Wednesday, July 3rd and Thursday July 4th. On the 4th there will be live music from Incognito on the Courtyard of Champions stage from 5:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. and make sure to enter the Lone Stars and Stripes Trip Give-a-Way* (Las Vegas). After the last race a 20-minute fireworks display choreographed to music courtesy of 99.5 The Wolf.

Arlington Highlands 4th of July Fireworks Extravaganza
Date: Thursday, July 4th
Time: 7:00pm
Location: Arlington Highlands
Fireworks Showtime: 9:15pm

Family friendly gatherings, favorite restaurants and fireworks over Franchesca’s – best describes Arlington’s big 4th of July extravaganza at Arlington Highlands. Be one of the first 3,000 there to get free sno cones between 7 and 9pm, or roll in late and get $1 sno cones while listening to live performances by The Chant Band. Just remember the fireworks will start without you come 9:15pm. Best viewing of the Fireworks display is recommended at Dave & Busters so get there early for a spot!

Highland Park Parade
Date: Thursday, July 4th

At 9am the Highland Park Fourth of July Parade will begin at Highland Park Town Hall and end at Goar Park. The 2013 Park Cities parade is an annual community event that many make a point NOT to miss!


Irving – Patriotic Parade and Fireworks
Date: Wednesday, July 3 & Thursday, July 4
Time: 7/3 – 6:00pm – 11:00pm. Parade 7/4 – 9:00am
Location: Irving Convention Center (500 W. Las Colinas Blvd.)
Fireworks Showtime: 7/4 – 9:40pm

On Wednesday North Texans can celebrate America’s independence with an evening of fun, games, music and fireworks in the Las Colinas District of Irving. The Family Fun Zone will be open from 6:00pm to 8:30pm, featuring free activities for children like bounce houses, an inflatable slide, a rock climbing wall, and more. From BBQ and hamburgers to Indian and Greek cuisine, the dinner options are sure to please at the food court. Available desserts include funnel cake, ice cream, shaved ice and more! On the main stage that evening will be the Kenny Chavez Combo, the Irving Symphony Orchestra and MAXX Band.

The City of Irving’s professionally choreographed fireworks spectacular is scheduled to begin at approximately 9:40 p.m.

The theme of Irving’s 4th of July Parade this year is “Celebrating American with a 50 State Salute”. Participants will design entries that honor one of the 50 states. The City of Irving Fourth of July Parade has been selected by Greater Irving-Las Colinas Chamber Best in Irving 2013 as the Best Community event. Immediately following the parade Irving-ites can enjoy a free watermelon reception and concert at Heritage Park, 217 Main Street. The concert will feature the Texas Gypsies. Plano All-American Fourth of July Celebration
Date: Thursday, July 4

Location: Oak Point Park and Nature Preserve
Fireworks Showtime: 9:30pm – 11:00pm

Party patriotic style with the City of Plano! Free parking is available at First United Methodist Church Plano, Plano Centre and Collin College for the fireworks show which will take place at Oak Point Park and Nature Preserve – 2801 Spring Creek Parkway, Plano, TX 75086. Tune in to 97.5 KLAK for the simulcast.

4th of July FireCracker Run
Date: Wednesday, July 4
Time: 9:00am
Location: Curtis Park

It may be a holiday but you can get your free behind up for a 7:30am run. You’ll need to cut the calories just to put more back on at the BBQ later on anyways. Before the Park Cities Independence Day Parade, the City of University Park will host its annual “UP Firecracker Fun Run.” You can Run or walk in the 2013 UP (University Park) Firecracker Fun Run which is open to all ages and skill levels. The route for this 5K race winds through the city, starting and ending in Curtis Park. Registration is $15 in advance and $20 on the day of. Kids 12 and under can run for free! Fort Worth 4th of July Celebration

Fort Worth’s biggest fireworks display can be seen near the Trinity. Enjoy Free music and family activities along the Trinity River at Panther Island Pavilion in Trinity Uptown. This year’s activities include live music by Back in Black, tubing and kayaking on the Trinity River, a bounce house, mini golf and an obstacle course. Then get front row seats for the dazzling sky spectacle from your blanket or lawn chair.

Stars and Stripes at Southlake

Like Addison KaBoomtown, Southlake holds their Independence Day party on the eve so you can still catch a few other DFW events the day of if you like. It just gives you the opportunity to party after work but right before the holiday. An evening filled with music, food, magic, crafts and patriotism, Stars and Stripes at Southlake will be enjoyable for both kids and parents. Children’s Medical’s The Children’s Village will offer games and all kinds of fun for children of all ages. Balloon artists, candy art, a Twitter Contest Booth, Dual Inflatable slide, inflatable obstacle and a gaming truck will all be on site!

Bishop Arts District: Neighborfood presented by Dishcrawl – June 29

If you love food as much as we do, then you’ll appreciate the Neighborfood Event coming up at the end of the month in the Dallas Bishop Arts District. Saturday, June 29th, marks the day in which eight Bishop Arts restaurants will partner up with Dishcrawl to help benefit local charities by giving foodies exactly what they want: access to MORE delicious food. Attendees can purchase an entry ticket that includes food at a participating restaurant and drink specials. More than one ticket can be purchased of course!

Proceeds from Neighborfood 2013 will go towards the North Texas Food Bank, United Way of Tarrant County, The Family Place, Color Me Empowered, the Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, American Red Cross North TX Region, Operation Finally Home and the Cancer Support Community of North Texas. That’s a LOT of charities!

    Movies Under the Moon 2013 | Shops at Park Lane Dallas

    I ain’t even gonna front. I ain’t even gonna lie. Since you walked up in the park. You’ve been gazin’ at the sky…
    This could very well be the start of something special….Movies Under the Moon.

    So whether you pay attention to the full moon outside or not, you’ll know that a Free outdoor movie will accompany it above the Shops at Park Lane in Dallas off Highway 75. Each Friday night Movies Under the Moon features favorite family-friendly films from the past decades. A 7-Eleven Slurpee-branded food truck will be parked the first Friday night giving away free slurpees and other cool giveaways to promote the release of the Escape from Planet Earth movie.

    Gordon Biersche will be selling food, soft drinks and other beverages while popcorn will be for sale for $1/bag.

On Friday, June 21st, North Texans will gather in the Arts District for the Summer Block Party which is an annual event that includes all of the following programs: Crow Collection After Dark (3rd Friday of the month), Late Night at the Dallas Museum of Art and ‘Til Midnight at the Nasher Sculpture Center, which means FREE general admission to all!

    June 2013: FREE Outdoor Movies at Sundance Square – Stars Under the Stars

    Stars Under the Stars at Sundance Square is back this summer! Every Thursday night in June, a movie will be showing on the Sundance Square Gateway in Fort Worth. Enjoy a flick on the big screen under the stars, hence the name of this FREE event – Stars Under the Stars. Outdoor movies are great for the entire family, especially when you don’t have to pay any admission. Movies begin at dusk (8:30pm-ish) and chair rentals are available for $2.00.

    Movie watchers for Sundance’s Stars Under the Stars Free Outdoor Movie series can start setting up about 8pm. However, no drinks, pets or outside food are allowed. Stars Under the Stars will occur 4 Thursday nights in a row 8:00pm – 10:00pm. Gateway Parking Lot is located on Houston Street between 4th and 5th Street. Whether it’s Date Night, your night to babysit the nieces and nephews or just a good time to try something different, come to Sundance Square and be star-struck with some favorite flicks (for FREE) in downtown Funky Town.
