We picked a few favorite Activities to do this memorial day weekend in DFW. Here’s our list of the Top 15, in no particular order:
1. Summer Adventures at Fair Park
The newest attraction in Dallas this summer is Summer Adventures at Fair Park. An island getaway only two miles away from downtown Dallas, guests of all ages can enjoy food of the state fair, Discover Garden, water attractions, 50 rides, live shows and more within the park gates. Plus you’ll get free bottled water and sun screen.
2. Dallas Symphony Orchestra Memorial Day Concert & Fireworks Display
Memorial Day marks the start of the 2013 Community Concert Series – a series of four outdoor concerts in various Dallas parks and neighborhoods. The Memorial Day concert & fireworks will begin at 8pm at Flag Pole Hill Park in Dallas. (8100 Doran Circle) Admission is FREE.
3. DFW National Cemetery – Memorial Day Ceremony
Keynote speaker: Brigader General Casey D. Blake, Deputy Director Army and Airforce Exchange Services
“Placing of the Wreath” ceremony and 21 Volley Cannon salute with music by Mountain View College Community Band and Reflections Home School Choir . Shuttle service will start at 8am running from The Potter’s House Church and stop at 10:45am. The ceremony starts promptly at 11am.
4. Adventure Landing
Enjoy Memorial Day weekend specials from Friday May 24 through Monday May 27 at this family friendly recreation park. Adventure Landing is having an All-You-Can-Play Special on Memorial Day (5/27) for only $10.99 per person, which includes unlimited mini golf, unlimited laser tag and 10 arcade tokens. This special runs from open to 6pm, but there is a token sale all weekend long.
5. Lake Ray Hubbard
Memorial Day Weekend is the perfect time to hit the freshwater lake in Dallas located just north of Forney in the Rockwall, Collin and Kaufman county. Get out the boats, jet skis, fishing rods, waveboards and BBQ supplies for extended weekend fun at Lake Ray Hubbard.
6. Klyde Warren Park
KWP is always a great weekend destination for families looking for an outdoor hangout spot with gourmet food trucks, dog parks, ping pong, a children’s library, music, exercise classes and an urban place to chill out.
7. Jokers Wild Comedy Show at HOB Dallas
Chris Kazmarski hosts this FREE comedy show on the Voodoo Stage at House of Blues Dallas at 10pm Friday night.
8. TBT Spring Fest Dallas Theatre Center
Texas Ballet Theater presents. presents Ben Stevenson’s Mozart Requiem. Mozart’s music comes alive with this moving tribute to heroism that features a magnificent cast of the men of TBT. (Texas Ballet Theater – 2400 Flora St, Dallas – 877-828-9200)

9. Dallas International Festival
FREE festival May 25th from 10am to 8pm at the Centennial Building at Fair Park. Enjoy the global cuisine pavilion, cooking demos, Children’s Discovery Center, International Bazaar, 3 stages of global dance & music, drum circle, parade of nations and passport to adventure.
10. Farmers Branch Liberty Fest
Gates open at noon for this FREE Memorial Day festival held at Farmers Branch Historical Park – arts & crafts marketplace, live entertainment, free kids zone and more.
11. Indie Fest in the Big D
Indi in the Big D is a FREE open market of independent business owners and artists from Dallas with live music, food trucks and over 50 local vendors. The market is open for one day only between 11am and 7pm. (406 S. Haskell Ave, Dallas 75226)
12. Norma’s Café Car Show
Late Great Chevys of Dallas and Norma’s Café team up for a showcase of hot rods and vintage cars Saturday from 6pm to 9pm at the North Dallas location located at Trinity Mills and Dallas Parkway.
13. Shape Diva Dash
This women’s-only 5k course is at Panther Island Pavillion is filled with obstacles sure to challenge racers balance, strength, agility and speed. All Daring DFW Divas welcome to take on this Women’s Obstacle Adventure Run!
14. Grapevine Live presents The Party Crashers
This high energy 7-piece band specializes in classic rock and roll, dance, and party music covering five decades from the 50s thru the 90s. The Party Crashers are an award winning band who have received “The Best Party Band in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex” award, as selected by the readers of both The Fort Worth Star-Telegram and Fort Worth Weekly News. 15. Get Drenched Run in Ft Worth
One of the nation’s biggest water fights, Drenched is a healthy wet 5k race where runners get the chance to cool off while running among sprays from hoses, ice cold buckets of water poured from above, sporadic water balloon bombs and water gun battles. Those that start the race out hot and dry will end up cooler and healthier in the Drenched Finale 5K. (LaGrave Field in Fort Worth)
