Nowadays, the phrase “shoot like a girl” isn’t considered a bad thing! Today many might even consider it a compliment. Some of the wettest jumpers and three-pointers have been shot by women with impeccable form. If you fall on the other end of the stick that’s OK too because coming up on Monday, September 24th the NBA is hosting their 12th Annual NBA 101 for Women at the Home of the Dallas Mavericks. If you’re a MAVS fan or just looking to learn more about the game of basketball and want to go all out with VIP service, training, prizes and fun, then register for this Dallas Mavericks event! This package is a once-in-a-lifetime deal and comes highly recommended for Dallas Mavs female fans!! Here’s the basic info for NBA 101 for Women:

Groups of 25-30 women rotate among various stations featuring different basketball 101 elements*

Addison Oktoberfest 2012

When you hear the word “Oktoberfest” what is the first thing to come to mind? (besides Beer..) Okay, what is the second thing that comes to mind? How about the livest German festival this side of the Atlantic Ocean – especially if it’s the Addison Oktoberfest! Can you believe 25 years have passed already? This month the city of Addison celebrates their 25th Anniversary of Oktoberfest so you know this one will be big! Oktoberfest in Addison can typically expect around 70,000 attendees and that doesn’t include our four-legged friends.

Our DFW festival may not last 16 days like the world-renown Oktoberfest in Munich, but it’s the closest you’re going to get to the real deal without a first-class ticket to Germany! Whenever fall starts to ease its way in to North Texas you can be sure to expect such DFW fall festivals like: Plano Balloon Fest, the State Fair of Texas, Grapefest, Fort Worth Music Festival and Oktoberfest!

The 25th annual Addison Oktoberfest will kick off Thursday night with an official tapping of the Keg. Before you know it bier barrels will be rolling, weiner dogs racing, curly mustaches appearing and people you thought might be from here all of a sudden speaking in German! Art Uprising 2012 – First Ever West Village Art Festival

Come to the popular energizing Uptown Dallas shopping area and make history by attending the first ever art festival held in West Village. Art Uprising will take place from Friday, September 21st to Sunday, September 23rd. You can expect the usual art fest/wine walk features but in an upscale atmosphere known to make your dining and retail experience that much finer. Along with local artwork enjoy a silent auction on Friday night, appetizers, drinks and store specials. Proceeds from the silent auction will benefit the Emergency Artist Support League (EASL).

A few of the stores participating in the Friday Art Walk: GAP, Indigo, L.bartlett, LF, Lilli London, Kendra Scott, y&I boutique, etc.

Roam the alleys of West Village Dallas to find amazing artwork by 50 local artists as music fills the air. If you work up an appetite strolling the art-filled streets of the Village take a sip or bite of something scrumptious from eating spots like Cork, Baboush, Cru or Union Bear. Children activities and musical performances will also occur at the 2012 Art Uprising Art Festival. Uprising attendees can expect to rock out with bands like Sealion, My Wooden Leg, Whiskey Folk Ramblers, Budapest One, Tweed EQ and more. It doesn’t get much better! Light bites, captivating art, music, classy bidding wars and family fun in one of Dallas’ most intimate shopping scenes. West Village will never be the same after this September.

2nd Annual Naturally Isis Natural Hair Parade and Festival

Last year over 1,500 North Texas natural hair fans came out and participated in the 1st Annual Naturally Isis Natural Hair Parade and Festival with hometown celebrity guest Erykah Badu. This year the festival is bound to be even bigger and better on Labor Day Weekend with live entertainment, lock twisting and braiding workshops, featured speakers, poets, tons of vendor, kids activities and free admission. On September 1st the 2nd Annual Naturally Isis Natural Hair Parade will start out at 10:30am from Wynnewood Shopping Center and into Beckley-Saner Park. At noon the festival will commence lasting until 7:00pm at Beckley Saner Park.

The How Sweet the Sound Tour is coming back real soon to Dallas! Watch the live choir competition hosted by Gospel greats Donald Lawrence, Fred Hammond, Yolanda Adams, Ce Ce Winans, Hezekiah Walker and Mary Mary’s Erica Campbell at the Verizon Theater Thursday, September 6th! How Sweet the Sound is in its 5th year of touring the country as they scan the nation for the best choirs.
