Bastille on Bishop | The Largest French Festival in Dallas

On July 14th the 4th Annual Bastille on Bishop comes to the Bishop Arts District. Celebrate the French culture with other North Texas between 6pm and 10pm with outdoor markets, wine tastings, local celebrity chefs, live music, dancing and more! Admission to the Bastille on Bishop Festival is FREE. Bishop Arts District’s Bastille on Bishop honors the rich French history found in Dallas by promoting history, culture, art and spirit of a nation that helped form an early identity of the French.

Bishop Arts District: Neighborfood presented by Dishcrawl – June 29

If you love food as much as we do, then you’ll appreciate the Neighborfood Event coming up at the end of the month in the Dallas Bishop Arts District. Saturday, June 29th, marks the day in which eight Bishop Arts restaurants will partner up with Dishcrawl to help benefit local charities by giving foodies exactly what they want: access to MORE delicious food. Attendees can purchase an entry ticket that includes food at a participating restaurant and drink specials. More than one ticket can be purchased of course!

Proceeds from Neighborfood 2013 will go towards the North Texas Food Bank, United Way of Tarrant County, The Family Place, Color Me Empowered, the Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, American Red Cross North TX Region, Operation Finally Home and the Cancer Support Community of North Texas. That’s a LOT of charities!

    If you missed the Spring Block party then here’s your opportunity for another night of FUN in the Dallas Arts District to celebrate the onset of summer! On Friday, June 21st, North Texans will gather in the Arts District for the Summer Block Party which is an annual event that includes all of the following programs: Crow Collection After Dark (3rd Friday of the month), Late Night at the Dallas Museum of Art and ‘Til Midnight at the Nasher Sculpture Center, which means FREE general admission to all!

    Safari Nights at The Dallas Zoo | FREE Summer Concert Series Under the Stars

    It doesn’t take a plane ride to Africa or Madagascar RedBox rental to experience Safari Nights. They can be found right off I-35 in Dallas every Saturday night this summer!

    Join The Dallas Zoo as they extend park hours for zoobilee of tunes and after hour fun! The Safari Nights Concert Series are presented by Texas Instruments giving DFW families the opportunity to enjoy great live music on the weekends for 8 consecutive Saturdays. Once sun sets and night falls bring out the blankets and lawn chairs for performances under the stars by tribute bands, local songwriters and artists right at the shady Cat Green. Attendees can also enjoy visits from the Stars from the Zoo’s Animal Adventures outreach program.

    Safari Nights Concerts are FREE with zoo admission. Food and drinks are available for purchase.

    The Dallas Zoo opens at 9am on Saturdays. Regular admission costs $12 for zoo lovers between 12 and 64. Kids ages 3-11 and adults 65 and over are $9. Children 2 years and younger get in FREE along with Dallas Zoo members.

    To avoid parking fees and traffic feel free to travel to the Dallas Zoo by DART. However, please be cautious and travel in groups if you plan on attending the Safari Nights Concert Series, especially when leaving after dark.

    “Placing of the Wreath” ceremony and 21 Volley Cannon salute with music by Mountain View College Community Band and Reflections Home School Choir . Shuttle service will start at 8am running from The Potter’s House Church and stop at 10:45am. The ceremony starts promptly at 11am.

    7th Annual Real Texas Music Festival – April 26-27

    Everything’s bigger in Texas…even the festivals. Every year around this time, the Real Texas Festival comes to town. The city of Mesquite knows how to throw a party-the festival is entering its seventh season and is getting bigger each year! This Friday and Saturday (April 26 & 27) in Mesquite this one a kind festival is in town and will be the perfect end to this week! Face it, you and your family deserve is so come on out and have the time of your life!

    This year, the festival is headlined by Texas country legend Pat Green. That’s huge, and so is the entertainment that follows. The name Kevin Fowler ring a bell? Green, Fowler and many others will be rocking the Real Texas Festival on one of three stages: the Main Stage, the Mesquite Arena stage or the Celebration Station Community Stage.

    The festival is real family fun and appropriate for all ages! Come out for family fun and a real Texas treat! That’s right, you can bring the whole family out to this one of a kind festival. There’s a performances at the world famous Mesquite Championship Rodeo (Resistol Arena), a Battle of the Bands, A BBQ Contest, a basketball tournament (rescheduled for a future date) and even charity work.

    Don’t forget to bring a non-perishable food item for $5 off admission. All food items collected in the Mayor’s Food Drive will go to the Mesquite Social Services and the Sharing Life Community Outreach. Over a span of four years, the food drive has collected more than 10,000 pounds of food in addition to the thousands of dollars also collected in the Mayor’s Food Drive.     2013 Fair Park Fourth All-American Drum-Off

    The best of the best DFW High school drumlines will compete to win $1,000 and get the chance to perform live at the Dallas Fair Park Fourth this July 4th! Between now and April 26th WFAA is accepting videos from local high schools in a DFW Drum-Off. Next they’ll narrow down the top 10 drum lines. From May 15th through May 26th the public will vote on these video submissions. Our top 3 finalists will perform on-air this July 4th at Fair Park’s Independence Day celebration.

    This coming Sunday Dallas is adding more Bark to Fair Park! The 2013 Dog Bowl at the Cotton Bowl, sponsored by Friends of Fair Park, is a FREE pup-friendly event open to all! Between 1:00pm and 5:00pm on April 7th canines, pet owners and dog lovers will take over the Cotton Bowl and make it their own “Dog Bowl”. However, this particular bowl won’t be filled with a can of Kibbles ‘n Bits. There will be splash pools, a pet/owner look-alike contest, an agility course and much more fun activities for you and your furry friends! It’s an entire afternoon dedicated to DFW dog lovers!

    In its 6th year of existence the Dog Bowl at the Cotton Bowl event will also feature pooch portraits, live music, exhibits and free giveaways! Enjoy specially priced microchipping and vaccinations for your furry family member.dog-bowl Cool organizations will be in attendance like Operation Kindness and the Human Society of Dallas County with adorable dogs up for adoption. You can find these pups who are looking for a loving home, located right outside the Cotton Bowl entrance gate at the Woofstock “Tail” gating zone.

    “Man’s Best Friend” will have the time of his (or her) life at Fair Park splashing around the misting ponds, munching on doggie treats, playing with other local pooches and seeing helpful veterinarians.
