When you hear the word “Oktoberfest” what is the first thing to come to mind? (besides Beer..) Okay, what is the second thing that comes to mind? How about the livest German festival this side of the Atlantic Ocean – especially if it’s the Addison Oktoberfest! Can you believe 25 years have passed already? This month the city of Addison celebrates their 25th Anniversary of Oktoberfest so you know this one will be big! Oktoberfest in Addison can typically expect around 70,000 attendees and that doesn’t include our four-legged friends.

Our DFW festival may not last 16 days like the world-renown Oktoberfest in Munich, but it’s the closest you’re going to get to the real deal without a first-class ticket to Germany! Whenever fall starts to ease its way in to North Texas you can be sure to expect such DFW fall festivals like: Plano Balloon Fest, the State Fair of Texas, Grapefest, Fort Worth Music Festival and Oktoberfest!

If you’re new to it all, don’t be fooled by the name. “Oktober”fest is definitely held during mid September, every single year. Addison’s Oktoberfest is pretty well known in the country too. Oktoberfest of Addison has been rated by USA Today as one of the Top 10 in North America! I guess BIG TEX isn’t the ONLY one to be reckoned with!

The 25th annual Addison Oktoberfest will kick off Thursday night with an official tapping of the Keg. Before you know it bier barrels will be rolling, weiner dogs racing, curly mustaches appearing and people you thought might be from here all of a sudden speaking in German! Some come for the drank, while others come for the food.

There’s so much to learn about the German culture and tons of activities for all ages, so just come and find out what the fuss is about! The 2012 Addison Oktoberfest is known to make North Texans more…….jovial, if you will. Tap into a keg of fun brewing with unfermented excitement!

Bring your family out to the 2012 Grapefest in downtown Grapevine for everything festival-like from bubbly to bounce houses. Browse the wide variety of vendors and shop from tons of unique stores and craft retailers. The wine isn’t the only thing you might want to taste. Plenty of flavors can be sampled from the Culinary Pavilion with delicious foods and local restaurants set up at this traditional festival. Live entertainment can be found coming from about 4-5 different stages. Delightful music fills the air and ice carving demonstrations can be viewed Friday and Saturday at 5:30pm.

The 26th Annual Grapefest is an entire weekend of winery, carnival rides, live music and plenty of culture. Get over to this huge festival taking place for four days in Grapevine, Texas. Drinks won’t be the only thing brewing – fun and excitement are stirred into one special North Texas mix!

Roots, Rock, Reggae – It can all be found around Joe Pool Lake in Cedar Hill this year for the 2012 Dallas Reggae Fest! Lynn Creek Park will transpire into a Caribbean fantasy simply because of the music and West Indian culture filling up the area. Imagine Joe Pool Lake as the Caribbean Ocean and the lakefront being your beach or the “dock of the bay”. Reggae Fest skipped a few miles south down I-35 and 67 from Fair Park last year to Cedar Hill’s Lynn Creek Park for a waterfront location for Live Reggae on the Lake! This year’s festival welcomes reggae icons like Maxi Priest and Elephant Man giving live unforgettable performances right in the middle of DFW! Groove to the sounds of sweet reggae classics or upbeat loc-swinging favorites as you grub on some West Indian treats that’ll knock your flip flops off!

Dayglow Tour 2012 Comes to Dallas | LIFE IN COLOR

The world’s largest paint party is sweeping the streets of Dallas September 15th! LIFE IN COLOR is an innovative show that brings paint, paint and more paint with high energy electronic music, dance and art. Witness eye-popping 3D visuals, live DJ’s, stilt walkers, aerial acts, fire shows and dance performers at this paint blast. The Dallas Dayglow Tour will take place at QuikTrip Park on Saturday, September 15th starting at 8:00pm. Featured artists include: Morgan Page, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike and David Solano.
