Motherhood the Musical – Fort Worth & Richardson

9 Aug

From the same producers as Menopause the Musical now comes Motherhood the Musical. Baby bibs and Betty Crocker meet Broadway with this show about the blessings and so called “curses” of being a mommy. It’s one thing to make it through the pregnancy, but even after the bundles of joy arrive, motherhood continues forever. North Texas moms can get ready to laugh, cry and shake their heads at this colorful 90-minute production on what it’s like becoming “MOM”.

Just in time for Back to School season, Motherhood the Musical will be showing from August 17th to September 4th in Forth Worth and September 8th to October 9th in Richardson. Dallas county and surrounding area residents will have to head over to the Eisemann Center – Bank of America Theatre and Tarrant County and beyond can catch the musical at Forth Worth Community Arts Center Scott Theatre.

Motherhood the Musical comes from an original story about four women who share their insights at a baby shower with soon-to-be-mom Amy. It will be her first time ever being a mom and she’s about to get an earful from a diverse more experienced group of women that know what it’s like to raise kids and maintain a family. There’s the single mom struggling to balance work, her family and divorce; then workaholic attorney “mom” who rarely even sees her kids and the stressed out mother of five who is over-worked and underpaid. Music and lyrics are written by award-winning Sue Fabisch.

Share your Motherhood the Musical experience with a group of friends and get discounts on tickets when you bring a group of 10 or more. For every 15 people in a group you can get 1 Free ticket! With 33 total shows in Richardson and a total of 20 in Fort Worth you’ll have ample opportunities to catch the production even if you need a babysitter for a couple of hours. That’s part of what Motherhood is about right, or is it? Maybe Motherhood even involves taking some time out for yourself every blue moon. Find out when seeing Motherhood the Musical throughout the months of August and September in North Texas!

New Moms-to-be will enjoy seeing Motherhood too

Women of Faith 2011 | Over the Top Tour in Dallas

7 Aug

Each year Women of Faith takes a group of amazing women filled with God-given talents and gifts to share with other women across the U.S. Other “women of faith” are able to hear these inspiring stories, testimonies, drama productions, participate in praise & worship and fellowship with sisters. Last year’s theme was “Imagine”, and this year it is “Over the Top”. I got the opportunity to attend the 2-day spirit-filled event last year and was blessed by the testimonies of Sheila Walsh and Karen James; but those were only two of an entire host of great speakers during “Imagine” like the charming and witty Marcus Buckingham, determined “Biggest Loser” contestant Michelle Aguilar, hilarious Lisa Harper and veteran Luci Swindoll. The captivating Nicole Johnson did a few monologues that not only tugged at the heart but dealt with real-life issues many women face. A pregnant and glowing Natalie Grant blew us away with her songs of praise and personal testimony while Mary Mary gave a concert encouraging ladies from all over the metroplex to never give up and never be ashamed to represent the “God in Me. The P&W team leads out in an energy-filled worship in song as we begin each program and takes us out of the arena just the same with a song left in your heart.

This year is no different, although they claim to be going “Over the Top”! Dallas is pleased to have Women of Faith return to the American Airlines Center on August 26th and 27th. There’s something for everyone whether you’re a young single woman, a divorcee, a newlywed, mom-to-be or even a seasoned woman of faith who’s still growing and learning more about how God can work in her life. Every woman has their own story and their own daily challenges. This is a place where you can gather together with your sisters to share those experiences but also regain strength and enrich your soul to keep pushing on.

This year’s lineup for Over the Top includes: Patsy Clairmont, Marilyn Meberg, Lisa Whelchel, Sandi Patty and Brenda Warner. Our “drama girl” for the weekend will be Katharine Everett and musical artists Amy Grant and Mandisa with special guest Andy Andrews.

Mary Mary performed one of their newest tracks last August (Imagine 2010)..

Here are a few pics from last year’s Women of Faith Conference..

The cost for each individual is $99, and if you want to bring your Women’s Ministries group, coworkers, fellow sisters or any group of women (10 or more) you each get a discount of $10 and pay $89 per person. Lunch is also included in the package. For about two days you can tune out the worries from work, home and other stresses of life and have a spiritual getaway to gain the victory on Victory Ave in Dallas. Have your soul warmed and connect with other women from North Texas as well as other parts of the world. Plan for a full Friday and Saturday (9am – 10am & 8am – 5pm) with multiple sessions and breaks in between to just let your hair down and experience the love of Christ with other women who share a common faith no matter your color, size, weight or age.

Join other Women of Faith as we discover that God really does love us more than we realize or can even Imagine. He can bless you exceedingly and do more for you than you can think to ask! Unrestricted…He’s just Over the Top!

Ask for a day off work from now – Friday, August 26th – for “Over the Top” at the American Airlines Center.

This weekend Dallas Market Hall will be hosting the 9th annual Viva Dallas!, a two-day expo geared towards the Latino/Hispanic consumers. Over 30,000 attendees are expected and the community event will take place on August 6th & 7th. Viva Dallas, is the largest culturally consumer-business exposition designed specifically to educate and inform Latino consumers about health/educational opportunities and corporate products and services. The yearly event traditionally takes place on the first weekend of August. One can expect free health screenings, live entertainment like cultural dancing and music, food court with Latin American favorites, over 200 exhibitors, a Quiceneras y Novias pavilion and even an education pavilion. With sponsors like Chase, State Farm Insurance, Texas Rangers, Children’s Medical Center, ECO Latino, El Heraldo, Ford, Verizon, AT&T, Al Dia and more, 2011 Viva Dallas is sure to be as successful as it has been in the past.

With the Hispanic population exceeding 50 million this year, standing firmly at the nation’s #2 spot, it’s only fitting that such an event occur on a consistent basis in North Texas as we continue to educate, cultivate and advance our Latino community. August 1st kicks off the “Help Hawaiian Falls Splash Out Hunger” Food Drive that will benefit the North Texas Food Bank and the Tarrant Area Food Bank. This food drive will be running from August 1st thru Labor Day Weekend, September 5th. North Texans are encouraged to bring a can of food or nonperishable food item and you’ll receive $5 off a Big Kahuna ticket! A regular Big Kahuna ticket it basically just a ticket for people above 48 inches in height costing $23.99. Lil Kahuna’s (under 48 inches) are only $16.99 for admission and Keiki’s (kids years old and under) are free! The discount on your ticket will be applied at the ticket window.

It’s one thing for low-income families, unemployed workers, senior citizens, victims of domestic abuse or family violence and people with chronic illnesses or disabilities to get by during the school year or regular months, but it can be even worse during the summer time when school-aged kids to not have access to free or reduced-cost school lunch programs. Imagine how you can affect a person’s life right here in our own area by donating food items to a great cause. It’s not just about your Hawaiian Falls discounted pass, but that’s just an added bonus.

While we all may be familiar with North Texas Food Bank, but if you weren’t aware TAFB (Tarrant Area Food Bank) covers Tarrant county as well as 12 neighboring counties on the west side of DFW. TAFB distributes donated foods from their Ft. Worth warehouse to 300 partner agencies that serve Texans in need. A $1 donation helps TAFB provide enough for 3 donated meals so imagine what you’re doing for a small $5.00!

Remember, Hawaiian Falls Splash Out Hunger is going on now through September 5th!! The $5.00 discount on Big Kahuna ticket will only be available during this time period also but there are always deals going on.
